Picking travel vlogging gear can be very overwhelming. Believe me, I’ve done countless hours of research on cameras, stabilizers, tripods, memory cards, selfie sticks… you name it. There is so much on the market and every brand is claiming to have the next best vlogging camera.

Over the last 3 years of YouTube I am proud to say I have a very lean kit. My preference is to have the least amount of equipment possible, and maximize the output from said equipment. As a solo-female travel vlogger, I find this to be the best way to make sure I capture my adventures authentically, and not get bogged down with excess technology.

If you are just starting out as a travel vlogger and need to know what gear to get, here is the exact equipment I started with and made over 200 videos with:

The Canon G7X is hands down my favourite vlogging camera. It is a great camera to start your travel vlogging journey, because it is easy to use right out the box but also can do way more than its size lets on. Once you get comfortable with the basic features of the Canon G7X, I highly recommend looking at how you can utilize the 60 FPS + many other settings to push this seemingly simple point-and-shoot to its full potential. This was my main vlogging camera for over two years and I would always get questions about what I shot my b-roll on… to everyone’s surprise… the Canon G7X!

Today, I still actively use everything in the ‘Beginner Vlogging Gear’ kit featured above. But I’ve also recently decided to upgrade my setup by investing in a heavier camera and stabilizer to create more cinematic travel vlogs. So here is the additional equipment I am using to make the vlogs you see today:

The Sony A6400 is a thing of beauty. I made the decision to add this camera to my kit because I wanted to improve the quality of my vlogs and better showcase travels. The Sony 10-18mm lens is almost the same price as the body of the camera, but it’s SO worth it. The 10-18mm is a beautiful wide angle lens that can also zoom in and do some pretty epic macro shots. For a travel vlogger, having a wide-angle lens is a must. It allows you to give more context to your videos without any extra effort – your audience will get a better view of your surroundings and be able to see what’s going on in the background of your footage.

These are my top recommendations for travel vlogging gear, and I hope this helps you navigate the wild world of camera equipment!

Happy vlogging friends 🙂

Hahahah but for real… it is so much colder than anticipated at this time of year here in Montreal. So ya girl had to find some HEAT and I got just that at Bota Bota Spa.

Definitely one of the most unique spas I have ever visited. Most of the spa is made on a BOAT, yes a frigging boat, and it was so magical.

Make sure you check out the vlog on Bota Bota, ya girl had a reallll good time!

Digital dating.

I feel like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City writing this post. AKA an unqualified person giving advice on a topic I myself have not mastered. hahahha. Really though.

Either way, thought it would be fun to have a bit of a chat with my friend Egith on the Do’s & Don’ts of Digital Dating. We go as far to show you our Tinder and Bumble accounts, and share what kind of things have worked for us on the respective platforms.

Dating apps are like the wild west, but in my opinion, can have some serious upside if you dedicate a significant amount of time to it and are smart about the process.

Watch the two part series above to learn what Egith and I have done in the past to navigate dating apps/digital dating as best we can.

Make sure to leave a comment on YouTube as well!!

A  very real record of what it’s like to fly in coach

Do you also love to hate flying coach? WELL THIS IS THE VIDEO FOR YOU!!!

Travel is something that we are so fortunate to be able to do. Sometimes, the process of getting from A to B is not always ideal, or even semi-ideal haha. And by sometimes, I mean always.

The only times I have enjoyed flights to their fullest is 1) when I get an entire economy row to myself and can lay down and sleep 2) free upgrades to first class 3) that time I used my dads points to book myself a BALLIN FIRST CLASS TICKET FROM EUROPE. (It was awesome. Sorry dad lol)

So yeah. Today’s vlog is about flying coach, and the end of my 3 months in Costa Rica!

Currently back in Vancouver and figuring out my life. Have another exciting trip coming in a few weeks. More on that later.

Playsuit: Urban Outfitters

Well, this is going to be my uniform for the summer. That is for damn sure. I love wearing little playsuits, they are so simple and so fun to wear. The process of putting an outfit together is significantly shorter, and you are out the door enjoying the sunshine that much sooner. Needless to say, if you don’t have a strong playsuit game this summer… get one. ?

Off to go freckle by the pool! Talk soon.

Skinny-Belle (13 of 13)

My top tips to prep for bikini season!

It is just about that time of year where the weather is getting hotter, days longer (thank the lord for that), and the beach is calling your name. Until, that is, you realize your pale ass hasn’t seen the gym since September and you are still losing your “Christmas holiday” weight…. Ahhhh yes. The joys of spring. There is nothing like the thought of being in a bikini in public to make you want to crawl under the covers and just avoid the whole situation.

But, this is where I am here to help. DO NOT FEAR.

There are a few simple things you can do to prepare yourself to be a total babe at the beach this summer.

LITERALLY CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Have you ever seen a girl walking around in her swimsuit like she owns the damn beach? You just know she feels great, and because of that… she looks even better. How you carry yourself and how you feel about yourself has a huge impact on your appearance. If you are withdrawn and slouchy and looking all insecure, A) chances are you are not having any fun at all, and B) it is obvious. So throw those shoulders back, and strut your stuff lady!! Seriously, we are all unique and that is what makes us so beautiful. If we all looked like weird alien clones (a look that is kind of trending right now unfortunately) things would be so boring. So be confident, love yourself, and just have FUN.

Annnnnnnnd if you want to go the extra mile to prep that bikini bod, here are a few more tips:

Keep a journal

Sounds a bit weird, but sometimes you are not even aware of your poor eating habits because they have become… habits. If you actually write down everything you eat in a day (this INCLUDES mini snacks and “bites”) you may be surprised at how many wasted calories you consume in a day. Try this even for a few days and it will be really eye opening, and a good starting point to know where you need to make some changes to get your bikini bod in check!

Cut the snacks

Snacks are the best yet worst things ever. If I let myself, I would be snacking all day long every day. Having little bites of lots of different foods is my FAVE thing. Unfortunately that is how you consume way more than you normally would while thinking you really aren’t eating anything at all. Seemingly innocent bites add up quickly. So beware of snacking, shit is dangerous haha.

Start with cardio

I am a bigggg fan of doing cardio to kickstart my workout routine when I have been slacking on my fitness for a while. The feeling of having big healthy lungs and getting your blood pumping is literally the best thing in the world. It makes me feel overall so much healthier. Once I have been doing cardio for a while and feel comfortable with fitness again, then I add in my core workouts.

When it comes down to it, looking your best is all about feeling your best. If you feel like a queen, you will look like one. Easy peasy babes. So remember, you are beautiful inside and out! Go git yo-self on the beach and rock it!
